After the big crash I had last time, I was not sure what to expect. My crew went over the
car during the week, but there always seems to be some hidden damage.
Heat race:
I did not have much hope for a good heat race since the car felt so bad in hot laps.
When the race started I knew it was going to be a long up hill battle. My car was not
handling well and the motor was down on power. I fought the car the whole race. I
started the race in 5th place and that is where I finished. Sure hope we find something
before the feature.
Feature race:
Because I did so poorly in the heat race I had to start the feature towards the back.
The car felt better, but not much. By the 8th lap I moved my way up to 8th place.
On a restart, after a caution, another car came flying into the corner next to me. I knew
he was going way to fast and had no chance of making the turn. I tried to slow down and
get out of his way but it was to late. He hit my car in the left rear, came up into the
drivers compartment, then drove over the front of my car. After all of that, his car flipped
several times.
Something on his car hit my hand and injured my finger. I was going to tough it out and
finish the race, but I soon found out the crash also damaged my brakes. I had to take it
to the pits and suffer ANOTHER DNF.
I am not the type of person to talk bad about other drivers so I will stick to the facts.
The driver that took me out had no business going into the corner that hard. He had not
been in a car in years and obviously needed more time to get up to speed. Also, this same
driver almost crashed with a safety truck during the heat race.
I went into the race in 4th place in the championship with a chance to close in on 3rd
place. Unfortunately, I am now even farther back with just one more points race to go. It
will take a miracle to catch up, but I will keep pushing to the end.
